The trail features many short paved sections including the Trail of the Pigeon Tree and several long loop sections which lead south on the Pacific Crest Trail. About The Marshall Pacific Reserve Trail is located in Marshall, a small island city approximately 50 kilometres south of Honolulu. There is a long section of the trail that climbs to several low flat ravines. This section of the trail is known for it being very popular on the Pacific Crest Trail.
